My experiences with exceptionalities

children_heart.jpg

I have had several experiences with children with exceptionalities. I have a family member who has a learning disabilities and I also have another family member that has dyslexia so I have seen personally how exceptionalities affect a learner’s work.  Working in the field at Hunt Elementary I have had experiences with students with exceptionalities as well.  A student in my classroom has an Emotional Disability and he often breaks down in class because he has so much frustration and anger inside of him.
There are also several students with learning disabilities as well.  As educators we have to provide accommodations for them.  While some of the students work on one particular lesson, we have to assists the students with learning disabilities to make sure that they understand the lesson.  As the Hispanic population grows in Georgia there is an increasing amount of students with English as a second language. Accommodations have to be provided for these students as well. There are several students in my classroom that has English as a second language and we would have to walk around and make sure that they understand the curriculum, and if not we would have to assist them.

I AM

Iam deterrmined and simplistic
I wonder will there ever be a cure for cancer
I hear thousands of birds
I see the ocean breeze
I want to achieve all my goals that I set for myself
I am determined and simplistic
I pretend that I can fly
I feel high on God's love
I touch the sky and heavens above
I worry that I my grandfather will not see me graduate college because he is ill
I cry when I think about how good God has been to me
I am determined and simplistic
I understand that everybody will not be in my life forever
I say that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to
I dream of world peace
I hope that one day we will unite as one
I am determined and simplistic
